Garima Ahuja and It’s My Getaway
It was when Garima booked a few holidays from various online portals and travel agents that she realised how very difficult it was to trust someone with an itinerary which was satisfactory in all aspects. The online companies ended up forgetting the customer once they received the complete payment! That was when Garima decided she needed to start organising holidays for travellers who didn’t want run-of-the-mill packages and were looking for a tailor-made itinerary; one which would provide 100% accountability and availability even after the payment was made.
Garima always knew that she didn’t want to do a 9-5 job but wanted to be an entrepreneur. Life soon gave her the opportunity to start her own venture.
She soon discovered that establishing the business was the simple part. The challenge was to convince people to change their way of travelling. Garima disliked it when people covered eight cities in 15-18 days. She wanted to encourage people to pace their holiday out and make the most of few cities; Quality over quantity. Just when things had started looking up, Covid hit the travel industry hard. The lockdowns ground all travel to a halt. Though things have improved since early 2022, its going to take time for the industry to recover.
When Garima was choosing a name for her company, she found that most of the names she liked were already taken. After a lot of brainstorming, she liked the name It’s My Getaway. Not only did it convey the message she wanted it to, the domain name was available too.
Garima loves organising events, parties and travel itineraries. Currently her favourite hobby is to spend time with her one-year-old twins and watch them learn something new each day.
