The Covid pandemic has turned our lives upside down and shown us the importance of physical and mental health, more than ever. One of the best ways to destress is through yoga and spirituality.

Our mompreneur, Nitasha started yoga when she was five years old. She strongly believes that yoga benefits the body and mind to maintain balance and helps us become one with our basic nature. She has also trained as a Kathak dancer and experienced the benefits of being physically flexible as well as developing tremendous patience.

In 2007, Nitasha experienced something terrible which changed her world. This event turned her to Buddhism and a study of the Bhagwad Gita. These were life altering experiences for Nitasha and she started her yoga and meditation classes from 2013. She started out taking yoga classes for her mother and her friends, with a small group of 15 ladies. The benefits that her students experienced, cemented her belief that yoga was the way to ground oneself spiritually and mentally.

In 2015 Nitasha had a baby boy who needed to be hospitalized on the 6th day of his birth due to jaundice. His bilirubin levels were extremely high and doctors had indicated that a blood transfusion might be required. This is when Nitasha took a pledge to spread spiritual messages and help people who are going through tough times to get back on track. Her prayers were answered and her baby recovered without needing a transfusion. Today he is a happy and healthy boy of almost 5 and does yoga with her on a regular basis and is also interested in meditation.

Nitasha remembers one client in particular- a small girl suffering from Down’s Syndrome... She started seeing her when she was 10 years old (5 years ago). At the beginning her facial features were very distorted and doctors had said she would never get her menses. Nitasha took then as a challenge and gradually the child’s facial features improved and as she got came the age of puberty, she got her menses, against all odds. Nitasha gives credit to yoga for this.

Nitasha also paints and is a trained classical dancer. She has performed nationally and internationally with Padamshree Shovana Narayan and continues to dance for personal enjoyment. She is a lawyer by profession and left full time work after her baby was born. She also loves to cook.

Nitasha says that yoga and the Gita changed her life completely.
