Komal Rustagi & Mulberry Design Studio



Komal Rustagi is an architect by profession. Space Design has been her passion and to create spaces that tell a story of either a brand or an individual has been the driving force for her to venture in to the field of interior design. She currently works as an interior architect specializing in Residential, Corporate and Retail interior spaces.

The decision to become a mompreneur came about because Komal wished to manage both, her child and business, together. Even though this proved to be a challenge at times, the immense support from her husband and inspiration from other mums has made her enjoy and cherish this journey.

One of the challenges Komal faces is that because of a hectic schedule she relies immensely on social media and word of mouth references. In addition, as a mompreneur there is always a challenge of managing time and work. She has also faced obstacles in been finding genuine associates/help whether it’s at home or work. Covid has further complicated matters by enforcing having to work remotely. However, she’s really glad that she’s been getting wonderful clients and vendors who have helped her execute her designs flawlessly.

Komal’s design studio has the unique name Mulberry. When asked about the reason behind this she said that Mulberry is a sweet berry and the colour mulberry (a darker plum) has been used extensively in her past projects. She also loves the richness of the colour. 

Apart from work, Komal enjoys trying out various cuisines with healthy options, flat-lay food photography (She started an Instagram page called @tabletoptales during the lockdown), music, swimming and dancing. She also took up yoga practice and tried her hand at old furniture Refurb during the lockdown.

Komal has a super active and adorable 4.5-year-old boy named Abier who is the apple of his mother’s eye!

Anu Jain & Meraki by a.n.s.

                     Anu had always been inclined towards sketching, drawing and painting since her childhood while her mother was inclined towards clothes and fashion. So, it was no surprise when Anu ended up taking fashion design as a subject in 11 th grade. Anu always had a lot of questions in her mind. What was she here? What was the purpose of her life? What could she do which would be different from the norm? She had a deep desire to prove something to herself. After completing her graduation, Anu took admission in Pearl Academy of Fashion for a one-year postgraduate course in Fashion Merchandising.                       From the time she completed her fashion course at Parsons, Chitwan knew that designer clothing was the line she wanted to get into. She started with womenswear in 2011 and then ventured into menswear in 2016. Whenever Chitwan visited the fabric markets for men’s fabrics, she would find herself staring at the cute kids’ fabrics and would wish that she could do something in that line. She would pick up fabrics for her son’s nightwear and shirts and they turned out really well; every time he wore them, her family would encourage her to consider venturing into this as a side business and gauge the response. Chitwan began small in 2020 and then there was no looking back. This isn’t a side business anymore. Chitwan is extremely passionate about it and doing kids' wear in particular makes her extremely happy. Moreover, she has discovered a staunch support system in the form of her mommy clients. It helps that Chitwan considers entrepreneurship to be in her blood.
