Natalia Burykina & Wander Trips
ICELAND MALDIVES
Natalia comes with a background in tourism and hospitality and after she moved to India from Russia, she decided to keep busy by doing something in this field. Her job hunt went on for over six months but she couldn’t find anything suitable, primarily because of certain restrictions vis-à-vis hiring foreigners in India. After six months when she needed to return to Russia to renew one of her visas, her partner suggested that she explore the possibility of starting something of her own.
The idea appealed to Natalia and hence Wander Trips was born. Presently, along with this role Natalia is also the Director of Sales in NasHOTEL, St. Petersburg, Russia.
One of the main challenges Natalia faced was acclimatizing to the cultural differences between Russia and India. To most people from India, the idea of a vacation meant trying to fit in as many places to see and things to do in a short span of time. Natalia’s aim was to try and slow them down and instead enjoy the vacation in its fullest measure. The advantage was that the paperwork was handled by her husband, leaving her free to design and curate trips according to the needs of her clients.
Wander Trips has a yellow suitcase on their logo which has a history associated with it. When Natalia started travelling on her own, her first suitcase had been yellow. Natalia soon discovered that having a yellow suitcase enabled her to spot it easily on the luggage belt, amidst all the blacks, browns and blues! This suitcase has witnessed several of Natalia’s trips, including the most important one of her life- that to India. The word ‘Wander’ is also a part of their motto. Natalia believes that when people thinking about planning a vacation, one of the first things they do is ‘wander’ on Google.
Wander Trips believes that while vacations might come to an end, they ensure the memories stay with their clients for a long time to come.
Natalia loves travelling (with good reason!). She has also studied classical ballet for 14 years and is a proficient dancer. She also happens to be a voracious reader. Natalia has two stepchildren, 16 years and 22 years.
