Richa Ahuja & Fabric Accessories

 

Richa Ahuja runs Fabric accessories, an online ecommerce portal providing designing supplies for apparels, shoes, jewellery and all other fashion needs. They sell exclusive buttons, trims, laces, tassels, brooch, patches, clutches and masks, among other accessories, both in India and abroad.

Fashion had always been an inherent part of Richa’s life. Following her MBA, she worked in the corporate sector, keeping her passion for fashion on the side-lines. This changed in 2017 when she joined NIFT Delhi in order to give more structure and shape to her dream of creating a career in the realm of fashion. While pursuing their fashion integration course, Richa gained exposure to the challenges faced by a fashion designer or a garment manufacturer in India. She realised the main reason behind this was that as high as 57% of the sector was in large measure unorganized.

By the time Richa completed her course, she knew exactly what she wanted her role in this industry to be. And thus, was born Fabric Accessories, a fashion designer shopping portal. Richa was blessed with a baby boy in August 2019 and motherhood only cemented her desire to be a mompreneur and in charge of her own timings.

One of the main challenges Richa faced was operating a business which was only online was the lack of personal touch which, most clients looked for, especially for the kind of products Fabric Accessories offered. Richa worked primarily through her website and social media handles and these took time to develop and reach people. Over time, with closer to real product display through photography helped her gain the trust of her customers. Richa was also fortunate that she got the name she wanted which described exactly what her product range was.

In her free time, Richa likes to do embroidery and read books. She also sometimes takes online classes. Richa has a delightful little toddler who keeps her busy alongside her work.

                      From the time she completed her fashion course at Parsons, Chitwan knew that designer clothing was the line she wanted to get into. She started with womenswear in 2011 and then ventured into menswear in 2016. Whenever Chitwan visited the fabric markets for men’s fabrics, she would find herself staring at the cute kids’ fabrics and would wish that she could do something in that line.                      Anu had always been inclined towards sketching, drawing and painting since her childhood while her mother was inclined towards clothes and fashion. So, it was no surprise when Anu ended up taking fashion design as a subject in 11 th grade. Anu always had a lot of questions in her mind. What was she here? What was the purpose of her life?
